Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) break down micropollutants in water using hydrogen peroxide and UV light, making it possible to treat many types of water effectively. Micropollutants are the new challenge we need to face if we wish to increase our water quality and reduce our ecological impact.
The micropollutant challenge
Modern advances in welfare, food supply and health have left their mark on our water systems. We now find increasing amounts of pesticides and pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, medicines and hormones in our water, with the environmental impact becoming increasingly evident.

How Advanox™ technology works
The Advanox™ system utilises UV-C light from highly efficient low-pressure lamps as a catalyst to create powerful hydroxyl radicals from hydrogen peroxide. These radicals thoroughly break down contaminants in milliseconds, converting target substances into harmless residues like water and carbon dioxide with minimal by-products.
As stated in the product documentation, this process leaves “only clean water without harmful by-products (such as bromate and NDMA), residues or safety risks” (uvo3.co.uk).

Implementation options

- A continuous process with a PFR (Plug Flow Reactor)
